Best Station Boots For Firefighters | 2021 Guide + 10 Reviews

Last Updated on January 4, 2021 by Jack Sanders

Station boots are worn in and around the station.

In this context, when firefighters hear the alarm that signals a fire is occurring they have to respond quickly, taking off their station boots and putting on their full fireproof turnout gear in a matter of seconds.

As a result, station boots have to be easy to take on and off in order to allow firefighters to put on their protective gear and hop into the firefighter truck.

This is why looking for station boots with zippers is a really good idea as they can help firefighters get their boots off even when they are tired after working many hours. However, there are many firefighters that don’t really like to wear these types of boots. Those are the people that frequently prefer going for slip-on work boots instead of work boots with zippers, which pertain to another line of protective equipment products for the feet.

Top 10 Best Station Side-Zip Boots for Firefighters

As I told you before, firefighters that walk around inside the station must be comfortable and ready to go at all times of the day. Both must be present, otherwise, a firefighter that is uncomfortable or not prepared to work can be a threat for his performance.

In order to achieve comfort and be prepared to work, you can choose either side zip boots or slip-on work boots. Both of them are really easy to take off.

In the next part of the article, I’ll be reviewing what side zip boots I think deserve a place in the list of the best station boots for firefighters:

The 3 Must-Have Features To Look For on The Best Station Boots for Firefighters

Aim For Over The Top Protection

Firefighters must choose station work boots that protect them from the multitude of physical hazards around the fire station.

Firefighters can be exposed to very high temperatures within the station and, as a result, the station boots that they select should be made from composite materials that do not conduct temperature. Such composite materials will ensure that firefighters are not put at risk of being hurt when in the station.

Station boots should also be resistant to electrical hazards such as live wires and open electrical circuits, and prevent punctures.

Another feature that firefighters should look out for when selecting their station boots is that they are slip resistant because the station floors can get wet from hose water, or slick from oils.

Your Boots Must Be Comfortable and Easy to Take Off

As I am sure you know, working on your feet all day is very tiring, and your feet can get sore if your boots are not up to the comfort standards firefighters need.

So, it is really important that you find station boots that are as comfortable as possible, and don’t make you want to take them off after only a couple of hours of use.

Comfortable boots will help you to work at your best, and prevent sore feet after a long day. Features that make your boots easy to take off is also key because it will ensure you getting into your more protective gear in the quickest time possible.

Remember, look out for a boot with a zipper to make things easier, or just go with a slip-on work boot altogether.

Great Durability

If you like getting value from the stuff you buy and don’t want to keep spending money in boots that don’t last you more than six months, then it is important that you find a pair of durable station boots.

In that case, the right boots for you need to be made from the best materials and they will not only last you for years, but they will also keep you safe and comfortable whilst at work, ensuring that you do your very best.

Remember that it is always better to spend a little bit more on your work boots if you are keen for them to be high quality and durable.

Pro Tip: Ensure That Your Boots Comply With The Requirements Outlined by Your Employer

Every firefighter must check with his employer for the requirements that his boots must have.

There are several demands that employers are used to make, all of them are aimed to ensure the necessary comfort and protection all firefighters must have while being in the fire station.

Remember to check this, it would be very frustrating for you to realise that your boots are not the right ones and that you have to get back to choosing a pair of station boots.
