Best Work Boots For Painters & Paperhangers | 2021 Guide + 6 Reviews

Last Updated on March 18, 2021 by Jack Sanders

Getting work boots for a painter is a total dilemma. Why? Because you must get your mind around spending a serious amount of money for boots that after using them won’t take too long to see them covered in paint.

So on one hand, your inner self is screaming not to spend too much money on a pair of boots that is not going to last a long time in their original state. But on the other hand, you have the necessity of being comfortable and supported when painting. In other words, you have the necessity to find the best work boots for painters.

I mean, I do not need to tell you what a painter is used to. Working 9 to 10 hours straight on concrete, various fixed positions that may lead to back and knee pain, etc. This is very common for this type of workers and must be taken seriously, you do not want to end up hurting yourself just to save a few bucks.

The only way I can see this ‘dilemma’ being worked out is by getting boots that are extremely comfortable and supportive without caring too much about the external conditions of the boots.

The Features To Look For in The Best Work Boots for Painters and Paperhangers

Comfort For Standing Long Periods Of Time

Standing long hours on concrete or ladders is almost a religion for painters. This type of job requires you to stay long periods of time standing on your feet. And in some cases, these periods last over 10 hours-straight, which can be really exhausting.

Knowing this, all painters must know by now that comfort is essential for a painting job. So, be sure to choose boots that have the necessary features to provide the support for every movement you need to do.

Durability That Makes All Painter Happy

Money is tight nowadays. And if there is something every worker knows is that work boots are too expensive, I don’t know why, but they’re frighteningly expensive.

So, if you come to the conclusion that you need to get yourself a pair of work boots that is going to help you be more comfortable and supported while doing your painting jobs, then you must also know that getting low-quality boots is going to make you regret every dollar spent.

So, remember to check reviews online, try to read about the quality of the materials the boot you’re about to buy and make yourself sure that you’re getting a top-quality boot for painters so you can rest sure that your money was well spent.

Flexibility for Every Movement

Painters move around a lot.

I mean have you seen a painter that wasn’t moving around tools or high up in a ladder? Never.

That’s why flexibility must also be taken into consideration when getting the best work boots for painters. If you don’t get boots that have the proper features to give you the support and freedom you need to do every movement you want to do then you’re going to be not only uncomfortable but you will also put the quality of your work in risk.

Pro Tip: Check Your Employer’s Requirements

This is what’s gonna determine you if you get a pair of hiking boots or more ‘standard’ work boots instead.

If your employer demands you to use a pair of leather work boots as a requirement, then you better take a look at the first 3 boots I reviewed previously. Otherwise, you’ll have a problem as your employer won’t allow you to do your painting job without you using protective work boots.

BUT, if you are self-employed or your employer does not demand this kind of boots as a requirement for working, then you can to take a look at the latest 3 hiking boots reviewed in this article. Those are a little bit more comfortable and flexible for working long periods of time. But, as a downside, they do not last as long as the regular work boots last.

  1. Hello. I looked at this article about boots for painters with interest because I feel the need to change something with my work footwear. I feel the need to to comment on something though.
Throughout my 40 years of painting, I have purposely worn boots with semi – smooth soles. The reason is that I have to go into people’s houses, especially during interior jobs, and wearing waffle stompers like most of the featured boots can be a real pain in the ass. Sometimes it is almost impossible to remove dirt, and especially mud from boots, and this could get you in trouble with customers, big time.
From what I see, the first ones you featured looks promising, although you do not show the tread on any of the boots. It seems from what I can see that the first pair has a wavy sole, which will not pick up too much mud.
I am going to look into that product, and I appreciate your featuring these boots, My only suggestion to you would be to show the tread on thes boots, and mention the issue of tracking mud.
    Thank you very much.
