Frequently Asked Questions

I grouped a list of the most frequently asked questions about the best work boots for sore feet so you don’t have to waste time and search for the answer anywhere else.

Why Do Feet, Ankles, And Knees Hurt?

When walking all day on hard surfaces, lots of pressure is directed to the base of your feet which creates micro-tears on your plantar fascia. This, of course, generates a great deal of pain.

Can Sore Feet Cause Leg, Knee, or Back Pain?

Yes. When suffering sore feet, your body involuntarily adopts different positions to compensate for the pain.

These positions are frequently not ergonomic and they put stress on your knees, legs, and back, thus, generating new pain sources.

Do Sore Feet Make You Tired?

Yes. When dealing with pain, your muscles involuntarily contract and spend energy constantly throughout the day. Thus, this gets worse when that pain is constant and lasts the whole day.

Moreover, your brain has a certain reserve of energy to deal with body pains. When these pains last throughout the day without pause, these reserves get used and you start to feel tired all of the sudden.

What Are The Recommended Heights For The Best Work Boots For Sore Feet?

It will depend on your responsibilities and risks you are exposed to at your job.

With a higher shaft, you get more protection, however, your feet and ankle movements get limited and some sort of discomfort starts to appear.

So, to arrive at a good combination of comfort and protection, I would advise you to get work boots with 6-inch or 8-inch shafts.

What Types Of Safety Toes Should I Use For Sore Feet?

It will depend on your line of work. If you want maximum protection, then going for steel toes might be the best idea.

However, if you’re exposed to electrical currents (such as live wires) then you might be better off with work boots that have composite toes as these will keep you isolated from electrical current.

But, if you want to maximize the comfort experience and you’re not exposed to heavy falling objects then going for soft toe work boots might be the best option for you as it will make the boots to be lightweight and really easy to carry around.

How Do I Take Care Of The Boots?

To do this, you should focus on the leather part of your work boots as it is often the part that needs the most care.

First, make sure to clean the boots, rinse them, and let them partially dry in a dry and warm environment.

Then, apply a leather conditioner which will nurture the material improving its looking and lifespan.

And finally, after applying the conditioner, let the boots dry completely.

Do I Need Insulation? What Type Of Insulation Is Best For Walking All Day?

It will depend on the temperatures you’re exposed to. If you work in harsh winters and you’re exposed to low temperatures then you definitely need it.

In that context, the best insulation material is the so-called “Thinsulate” which is a technology globally known for keeping the feet warm and dry (without sweat, as they let the feet breathe) when exposed to really cold temperatures.

To make your life easier, this is the table you should look at to know the exact level of insulation you need when exposed to different temperatures:

  • You will need 200gr of insulation material when exposed to temperatures from 30°F to 50°F
  • You will need 400gr to 600gr of insulation material when exposed to temperatures from 15°F to 40°F
  • You will need 800gr to 1000gr of insulation material when exposed to extremely low temperatures
